The Vegetannual

This is a vegetannual, an imaginary plant that can be a great way to remember what foods are in season (in the middle part of our county anyway) and thus, what foods could and should be purchased locally when you are interested in doing so.  I found it on Wide Open Spaces  from January 2009 – this blogger has since moved here.  I am reading “Animal, Vegetable, Miracle,” by Barbara Kingsolver for the second time and I love it (here is Barbara Kingsolver’s site.)  The drawing is by artist Richard A. Houser.  I love this drawing.  Maybe I can get a copy for the kitchen as a great reminder of my desire to eat locally.
