Two books, one weekend

The Handmaid's TaleThe Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was w.e.i.r.d., but in a good way. I read it in two nights and I have never read anything like it. It is science-fictiony, but in one of those ways that the plot does not seem completely out of the question. I would not recommend it for everyone, but if you are looking to read something completely different, give it a go.

The HelpThe Help by Kathryn Stockett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Help was a book club selection that I missed the first time around. It was a pleasure to read and was the first time in a long time I have enjoyed fiction. I did not want it to end.

I love the Handmaid’s Tale. I generally love Margaret Atwood but didn’t really get Alias Grace that was a weird one for me. I keep meaning to read The Help. My hairdresser was reading it when I last had my hair cut! Well, not at the same time obviously….
