Wow. Just wow. I read this book while walking, cooking and in lieu of sleeping over the last 24 hours. When a book literally takes your breath away, it is just “wow.” It had to remind myself to breath at least twice.
Zeitoun is the memoir of a 47 year old painter living in New Orleans during Katrina. The father of four stays behind while his family evacuates. He manages to assist in the rescue of people and pets and safeguard his many rental properties when things take a very dark turn.
I was aware of the nefarious nature of some things in NOLA after the city flooded, but this man’s experience redefines my view of just how bad things can go.
Zeitoun is a must read…
